Alex Pettyfer is in talks to play the lead character in DreamWorks Studios' "I Am Number 4," the teen alien pic being produced by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg.
D.J. Caruso is directing from an adapted script by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, based on the tome by James Frey and Jobie Hughes.
Storyline revolves around a group of nine earthbound aliens who escaped their planet just before it was destroyed by a rival species. The group hide out on Earth, disguised as teenagers attending high school. The title character (Pettyfer) soon discovers, however, that he is still being hunted by the rival species.
Exec producers are David Valdes, Chris Bender and J.C. Spink.
Pettyfer's previous credits include "Stormbreaker," based on the best-selling young adult book series "Alex Rider."
Thesp is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment.
