British actress Imogen Poots has been cast as the female lead in “Fright Night,” becoming the final nail in the coffin — ahem, cast — of DreamWorks’ remake of the 1985 film.
Poots joins Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, David Tennant and Christopher Mintz-Plasse in the film, which centers on a teen (Yelchin) convinced that his new neighbor (Farrell) is a vampire.
Poots will play Yelchin’s girlfriend, part of the popular crowd and unaware of his earlier life as a nerd.
Michael De Luca and Alison R. Rosenzweig are producing “Fright,” which Craig Gillespie is directing. The movie shoots in the summer in New Mexico.
Poot’s first major work was in “28 Weeks Later …,” and she appeared in “Solitary Man” with Michael Douglas and Jesse Eisenberg. She starred with Aaron Johnson in “Chat Room,” which premiered at this year’s Festival de Cannes, and recently wrapped Cary Fukunaga’s adaptation of “Jane Eyre,” in which she plays Blanche Ingram opposite Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska.
She is repped by CAA.
