In a competitive situation, DreamWorks has shelled out mid-six figures to acquire "Glimmer," a sci-fi/fantasy spec written by Carter Blanchard.

Script is described as an "Amblin-esque" found-footage tale involving teenagers and time travel.

Adam Kolbrenner will produce for Madhouse, whose Robyn Meisinger and Ryan Cunningham will exec produce.

Blanchard is a budding scribe who has set up several projects around town, including his spec script "Near Death" at Fox Searchlight. He also recently wrote a draft of the Universal project "Immortals." Other projects in development include the "Jaws"-centric period dramedy "Blockbuster" at Identity Films, the thriller "Diver" at Intrepid Pictures and the bedbug-inspired horror pic "Dead Asleep" at Contrafilm.

Blanchard is repped by Paradigm and Madhouse Entertainment, which is currently in prep on Alcon's thriller "Prisoners," to star Hugh Jackman.
