DreamsWorks will celebrate Valentine's Day in an unusual way -- hosting a nationwide casting call for the adolescent lead in Hugh Jackman starrer "Real Steel."

Studios aren't in the habit of using open searches to land an actor.

The only other time DreamWorks has done a public casting call was for the role of Effie in Bill Condon's "Dreamgirls." The part ultimately went to Jennifer Hudson, after the nationwide search turned up empty-handed.

Director Shawn Levy's "Real Steel," a sci-fi actioner, tells the story of a robot-boxing promoter who thinks he's found a champion in a discarded robot. At the same time, he discovers he's got a young son.

Those interested in playing the son have two options. They can either submit a videotaped audition or attend one of two open call auditions. The first will be held Feb. 14 in Chicago. The next will be in Gotham on Feb. 20.

Best news: No acting experience required.
